
Davie Men's Tennis team finished 10-6 overall, 8-2 in conference play to finish in 2nd place!
Congratulations to Ryan Moxley and Scott Gallimore for being voted as All-Conference Tennis Players!
Davie County will be hosting the CPC Men's Tennis Tournament at South Davie Middle School starting April 26th at 9am.
April 18th - Senior Night - vs Summit School - The Coach honored our seniors by having all of them start tonight. Matthew Hursey had a win at #6. Jonah Kinder made his season debut at #3 doubles partnering with Stephen Daniel, but did not pull out a win. Ryan and Daniel Moxley both played at #2 and #3 singles and at #2 doubles, unfortunately with no wins. The War Eagles fell 2-7 for the evening with the only other win coming from Evan Lankford. The team hosted the Seniors to a cookout after the match.
April 19th - The War Eagles traveled to North Davidson for their last regular season match. The War Eagles went 8-1 with the only loss by Evan Dowell at #6 singles. Stephen Daniel/Evan Lankford played at #2 doubles and extended their winning streak to 9-0. Ryan Moxley and Daniel Moxley had a great showing at #1 doubles. The War Eagles improved to 8-2 in the CPC and clinched 2nd place, earning them a spot in the State Dual Team Tournament on May 3rd.
April 26th - CPC Tournament hosted by the War Eagles at South Davie - The AD's voted to hold the conference all in one day this year which made for a very long day and some very hard playing by lots of boys! Representing Davie in singles was Scott Gallimore and David Hursey; in doubles Ryan Moxley/Daniel Moxley and Stephen Daniel/Evan Lankford.
Gallimore was the #2 seed in singles and earned a first round bye. He won his first two matches moving into the finals against Robbie Mudge and nationally ranked player from Reynolds (Gallimore's only singles losses for the season were to Mudge). Scott came in 2nd place in singles and advances to Regionals next weekend.
David Hursey faced the #1 seed from North Davidson in his first round, a match that ended up going to 9 all. David fought hard but lost in the tiebreaker.
Ryan and Daniel Moxley were the #1 seed in doubles and also had a first round bye. They moved into the finals after winning their first two matches, and fell to the Reynolds team of Riazzi/Yamane.
Stephen Daniel/Evan Lankford entered the tournament with a 9-0 record as a doubles team. They won their first match 10-3. They lost their second match 5-10 against Vanard/Li from Mt. Tabor. That was a hard first loss for them and their first as a team. They advanced to try for a ticket to Regionals, but fell 8-10.
War Eagles Tennis is headed to States! May 3rd, the War Eagles head to Boone to face Watauga High School in the first round of the Dual Team Tournament for States. The following players will represent Davie: #1 Scott Gallimore; #2 Ryan Moxley; #3 Daniel Moxley; #4 David Hursey; #5 Evan Lankford; #6 Evan Dowell; #1 Doubles Gallimore/D. Hursey; #2 Doubles Moxley/Moxley; #3 Doubles Stephen Daniel/Lankford. Matt Hursey and Robert Daniel will also travel with the team. Good luck War Eagles!
